Player Standards

Players are expected to attend and be on time for all practices and tournaments. If a player is unable to attend they are to call the coach personally ahead of time.

If a player misses a practice or a tournament, then the consequences may include decreased playing time at the following tournament.  The coach will take into consideration the circumstances surrounding the players’ absence .

Players should bring healthy food and water to the tournaments.  Most facilities wont have concession stands, and it is important to keep the body energized for the competition.  Pop, potato chips, candy etc. should not be brought to a tournament.     Instead, bring fruit, vegetables, bagels, and other carbohydrates…..and LOTS OF WATER!

Players are expected to be respectful to other teams as well as officials. Be gracious in victory as well as defeat.

If your team is scheduled to referee, all players are expected to be at the court where we are reffing. We need to provide an up official (the coach), two lines people, a scorekeeper, a “flipper” (scoreboard), and a libero tracker.  Players should take their roll very seriously.  Take pride in being a good linesperson or a good scorekeeper and always pay attention.  If we have to ref the last match of the tournament, all players must stay to help.

Players are responsible for their own equipment such as shoes, kneepads, and uniforms.  They are also responsible for the club’s equipment, such as the balls and nets.

Playing time is the decision of the coach, and many factors going into deciding playing time.  Club volleyball is a competitive atmosphere and equal playing time should not be expected.  If you wish to discuss playing time with the coach, then please do so at an appropriate time.

Players should be encouraging and enthusiastic towards all teammates. A team that supports one another is a team that is destined for success.  Whether on the bench, or on the court every player is a part of team’s successes  (as well as failures).
